Every so often I come across a book that seems like my soul is the author that wrote it through another human being. Uninvited is that book right here and right now in my life. Lysa Terkeurst has the ability to capture the reality how often we associate rejection with people and events that have nothing to do personally with us, all the while speaking the truth about the root of the problem and the solution being Jesus. I cried with this book. I repented with this book. I was delivered from Satan’s lies with this book.
Uninvited is an emotion that some of us all too often feel, pin on others and continue life saying we don’t feel rejected but our thoughts and actions say differently.
There’s a point in the book where Lysa describes standing in a room full of people she’s not familiar with and feeling so alone and ‘uninvited’ even though no one actually ‘uninvited’ her. Desperate to ‘save face’ she tried to spark up a conversation with the server that was providing drinks for the guests only for the server to also be busy and not respond the way she expected.
I don’t know about you but these are feelings I know too well and through this book I was challenged to dig deeper as to when I feel this way, why I feel this way and how to be victorious despite of these feelings.
I highly recommend this book for anyone in a season of reflection – anyone in a season of change – anyone simply wanting to renew their way of thinking pattern that has kept them from feeling victorious in their relationships. Come with an open heart ready to self examine yourself. Expect the light of this book to drive out any darkness of rejection you’re currently struggling with or have struggled with. Expect to live knowing you are loved even when you feel less than. Expect deliverance.
